'THE NINTH ART' EXHIBITION UNVEILS CUTTING EDGE TALENT

Artist Ant Mercer (Widdershins, ENGINE COMICS) is curating an exhibition of 
cutting edge UK independent comic art in one of England's mainstream 
galleries, situated in the stately Williamson Park in Lancaster.

Built in 1906, the Ashton Memorial Gallery, set in the commanding poisition 
overlooking the Lancaster City Centre, is usually home to delicate 
naturalistic watercolours and figuritive pieces, will from Saturday October 
30th to Saturday November 26th host THE NINTH ART exhibition.

The aim is to highlight the growing homegrown talent in a medium often 
ignored and underestimated by the mainstream.

"I`m looking for submissions at the moment" says Ant Mercer. "any comic 
pages, sketches or portfolio pieces that artists or publishers like to 
exhibit, please get in touch".

Visitors will also be able to sample the graphic novels available and 
purchase some of the titles featured.

The exhibition forms part of the year long Comics Nation event, where 
publishers, writers and artists from all over the country are organising 
workshops, shows, signings and panels within the local community to promote 
literacy and creativity to the public.

FAQ FOR EXHIBITORS:

INSURANCE:
The gallery has general insurance covering exhibiting works.

DELIVERY/COLLECTION OF ART:
As the Gallery is a local community gallery, there are limited funds, and 
the Gallery regrets they are unable to pay for collection or postage of 
artworks. Special recorded delivery is recommended. In some cases 
collections can be made by the curator, Ant Mercer, by personal arrangement 
with the artists involved in the North West area. For artists outside the 
North West involved in AUK or ENGINE COMICS, Editor Barry Renshaw will cover 
the special delivery costs of the artwork to and from the Gallery, again by 
personal arrangement with the artists.

FRAMING:
The Gallery does not frame the works and is the artists responsibility to 
frame their work ready for exhibiting.

SELLING OF TITLES:
The selling of select related titles to the art displayed will be made on a 
sale or return basis with the Williamson Park shop with a 17% commission, by 
arrangement with the Curator Ant Mercer.

PUBLICITY:
Leaflets and posters will be produced by the Gallery for the local area, the 
University and other education centres. Downloadable materials promoting the 
exhibition as part of the Comics Nation event will be posted to the 
comicsnation.blogspot.com site and sent to news sites.
